At BabyCue Private Limited, our journey began not in a labβbut in the heart of rural India.
During the BIRAC SPARSH Fellowship, our team immersed ourselves in Primary Health Centers (PHCs), Community Health Centers (CHCs), and villages, working closely with doctors, healthcare workers, and families. What we witnessed was both eye-opening and deeply moving.
Every day, children under the age of five were brought in with diarrhea, one of the most common yet potentially life-threatening conditions. But what stood out was not just the illnessβit was the uncertainty in diagnosis.
In the absence of simple, rapid diagnostic tools, doctors were often forced to make decisions based on symptoms alone. As a result, many children were prescribed antibiotics unnecessarily, even when the infection might have been viral. We saw worried parents, overburdened doctors, and a system doing its best with limited resources.
One moment that stayed with us was a young mother holding her child, asking if the medicines would truly help. That question stayed with usβand became the reason we started BabyCue.
We realized that the problem was bigger than just diagnosis. It was about gut healthβa critical yet often overlooked aspect of overall well-being, not only for children but also for adults. Poor gut health, repeated infections, and misuse of antibiotics were silently affecting communities.
This experience led to a simple but powerful idea: What if we could bring accurate, affordable, and easy-to-use diagnostic solutions directly to the point of care?
This is how DiaCue was bornβour effort to develop a rapid, paper-based diagnostic test to differentiate bacterial and viral diarrhea, enabling doctors to make informed decisions and reduce unnecessary antibiotic use.
At the same time, we recognized the need for preventive solutionsβto strengthen gut health and reduce the risk of infections. This led to the development of GrowGut, a natural synbiotic formulation inspired by traditional Indian ingredients.
Today, BabyCue stands at the intersection of diagnostics and preventive healthcare, driven by a mission to make gut health accessible, understandable, and actionable for everyone.
Because for us, this is not just innovationβit is about ensuring that no child suffers due to lack of the right diagnosis, and every family has the tools to take control of their health.
